Economic Justice

Thanks to the power of community and the dedication of our partners and supporters, we have driven major victories that are shaping a more just and equitable Massachusetts.

In 2025, we played a leading role in passing the Massachusetts Affordable Homes Act, a historic investment in affordable housing across the state. Locally, our advocacy helped secure over $22 million in ARPA funding to expand affordable housing across North Shore cities and towns. We also won crucial zoning reforms in Lynn, Swampscott, Salem, Beverly, Gloucester, and Rockport — paving the way for hundreds of new homes and stronger, more inclusive communities.

Our work to ensure everyone has the resources they need to thrive continued with the successful passage of the Fair Share Amendment in 2022. Partnering with Raise Up Massachusetts, we helped deliver a victory that now generates over $2 billion every year for public education and transportation — by asking the wealthiest among us to pay their fair share.

We have also been at the forefront of the fight for fair wages. Together with Raise Up Massachusetts, we led two successful campaigns to raise the state’s minimum wage — first from $8 to $11/hour in 2014, and again from $11 to $15/hour in 2018 — directly improving the lives of hundreds of thousands of working families.

And because every worker deserves the ability to care for themselves and their loved ones without risking their livelihood, we helped win the fight for paid family and medical leave in 2018. Building on our earlier success securing paid sick time, this major victory now ensures that Massachusetts workers can take the time they need to heal, grow, and care — without fear of losing their income.

Every one of these wins was possible because of the collective power we built — and the supporters who believed in the vision of a fairer future. Your investment fuels the next generation of victories. Together, we are transforming what’s possible.
