Issues and Campaigns
At ECCO, our members select issues through deep listening and community decision-making. Then, we come together to take those big issues and choose specific, strategic, and winnable campaigns to address them.
Our Issues
HOUSING
ECCO is getting our communities safely and affordably housed by organizing for policies like expanding public housing funding, and letting cities stabilize rents, while our local teams reshape their towns like zoning reform and affordable housing funding.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE
ECCO’s communities have spent the last decade fighting together to stop deportations—through rapid response efforts and long-term policy advocacy—honoring the dignity of immigrants and insisting that no human being is illegal. Under the new administration, this work is more critical than ever.

Our Campaigns
Rent Stabilization
In February 2025, ECCO leaders came together to take bold action on housing justice. After several months of deep listening in our communities, it was clear that skyrocketing rents have led to massive amounts of displacement of working class communities. To combat this, we need rent stabilization!
Right now, Massachusetts law bans rent stabilization, leaving families vulnerable to skyrocketing rents that force them out of their homes and communities. We’re fighting to change that. ECCO is working to lift this unjust ban so that cities and towns can take control—protecting residents from displacement and ensuring housing remains affordable for all.
The housing crisis is pushing families out, tearing apart neighborhoods, and deepening racial inequality. But we have the power to stop it. Together, we can create a future where everyone has a stable home.
Dignity Not Deportations and Deportation Defense
In the face of increasing threats of deportation, ECCO is making sure that no immigrant stands alone. Our immigrant leaders and their allies are running Know Your Rights trainings, organizing and training allies to accompany immigrants to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) hearings, and working to make immigrants safer statewide through the Dignity Not Deportations campaign.
The Dignity Not Deportations campaign urges legislators to pass a law forbidding MA law enforcement from being deputized by ICE to advance the current administration’s deportation agenda or using jail beds for the purpose of ICE detention.
We are also working on deportation defense with the LUCE Network for Immigrant Justice to operate a hotline that verifies ICE sightings and supports people to exercise their rights.
Black Liberation Agenda
ECCO is working with our partners in MA Communities Action Network to create a bold vision for our state that centers the voices and needs of Black people in our communities, and then we hope to work together to realize that vision. We center Black liberation not only because it is essential for Black folks, but also because we believe that race is a diagnostic tool to understand the challenges coming for all but the wealthiest people in our country. Like a canary in the coal mine, Black communities experience the toxicities of society’s injustices first, but those injustices eventually affect all of us. By centering Black liberation, we believe we can work most strategically for collective liberation.
