Youth Jobs

ECCO made significant contributions to the statewide campaign that won funding for 2,700 youth jobs during the summer of 2010, resulting in several hundred youth jobs opportunities for North Shore youth. ECCO has a current campaign to increase private sector jobs for youth and is engaging the Mayor of Lynn and major employers on this. ECCO continues to work for state funding for youth jobs as part of the Youth Jobs Coalition. We are also working with the North Shore Career Center on practices to give better support and training to youth in jobs.
ECCO's current goals to increase opportunities for youth are to increase private sector commitments to employ youth, increase state and federal funding for youth employment, increase safety for youth by continuing and increasing support for the Lynn Street Outreach Worker Program and the Gloucester Chill Zone Program.
